Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve logged into Employment Hero and have outstanding certifications – what does this mean?

At KEO, we are committed to providing exceptional care for all our clients. Part of our process for doing so, is ensuring all employees have the necessary education, vaccinations, screening checks, and insurance for their roles. We manage these certifications via Employment Hero. Some certificates are mandatory, and others are optional (for example, First Aid Training).

  • You can see what is required of you via Employment Hero; this will be visible under ‘certifications’ on your profile. Login here.
  • You’ll need to provide evidence of all mandatory certifications prior to your start date.
  • If you encounter any issues along the way, please contact our Quality Assurance team via email: qualityassurance@keocare.com.au
Some extra help with these certifications would be great – where should I look?

Information about how to obtain each of the necessary certifications is accessible via the links below.

I don’t have a Medicare provider number – how do I apply for one?

If this is the first time you’ve applied for a Medicare provider number, you will need to apply through the Services Australia website.

To apply, you will need to enter KEO Care’s details into the location/business section of the application. A copy of this form with KEO Care’s information can be found on Employment Hero under “Induction Content”.

I don’t have an NDIS Worker Screening Check – how do I link it to KEO Care?

If this is the first time you’ve applied for the NDIS Worker Screening Check, one of the questions in the application will be ‘Who do you require the NDIS Worker Screening Check for?’. Select the following:

I already have an active NDIS Workers Screening Check - how do I link it to KEO Care?

If you have an active NDIS Workers Screening Check, that’s great. All you need to do is upload evidence of your check to Employment Hero. This must include your Worker ID and the expiry date of your check. A PDF of the email you would have received with this information is suitable.

I’m a therapist – does KEO Care require me to take out my own professional indemnity insurance?

Yes, KEO requires all therapists to take out their own professional indemnity insurance.

  • While KEO Care takes out professional indemnity Insurance which may cover therapists, it is at the discretion of the insurance company, and they may choose not to cover the therapist based on the nature of the claim.
  • KEO’s professional indemnity insurance is like what is advertised by other allied health providers. However, we want to ensure that all therapists are covered personally for any instance where a claim is made.
  • When completing your insurance application, please ensure you select ‘Employee Professional Indemnity Insurance’ with a minimum of $20M for professional indemnity insurance and $20M for public & products liability.

KEO Care does have an annual shutdown period that applies to some teams. This shutdown is generally only one week-long period that encompasses the Christmas and New Year public holidays.

Salaries are paid fortnightly into your designated bank account. Your payslips are managed via Employment Hero, and you’ll receive an email each time you are issued a new payslip. Any queries regarding pay can be directed to our finance manager.

What do pay reviews look like at KEO?

KEO completes annual pay reviews which are generally conducted in September each year. Eligible employees must have completed their probation by June 30 of each year.

What’s the probation period?

At KEO, all employees must complete a 6-month probation period, which includes monthly one-on-one sessions with your manager and regular check-ins with mentors to optimise your start at KEO and ensure we are offering the support you need to be successful and feel fulfilled in your new role.

You can nominate your own super fund via Employment Hero. If you don’t already have a preferred fund, you can choose to use KEO’s nominated super fund, Hesta.

KEO will make superannuation contributions into your nominated super fund account in accordance with all Government legislations and requirements, and your super contributions can be reviewed via your payslips.

What leave does KEO offer?

At KEO we recognise the value of everyone’s time and acknowledge that every team member has unique circumstances and priorities when balancing life with work. We are committed to caring for our employees and supporting them to be successful in their roles. One of the ways we do this is through offering multiple types of leave to empower employees to manage their time and deepen their wellbeing. At KEO we provide the following standard leave entitlements:

  • 20 days of annual leave
  • 10 days of personal leave

In addition, at KEO, we offer extra leave as a perk in the following forms:

  • 2 days of study leave per year for professional development.
Does KEO have any provisions for parental leave?

KEO Care offers paid parental leave for both carers:

  • 6 weeks paid parental leave for the primary carer, plus 10 paid ‘keeping in touch’ days.
  • 2 weeks paid parental leave for the secondary carer.

Paid parental leave can be taken at half pay to double the time off.

  • Unpaid parental leave and parental leave supported by Government-funded payments may also be available to you, in line with their eligibility criteria. You can check your eligibility here.

KEO also offers additional flexibility under our Flexible Working Arrangements Policy.

The flexible working arrangements sound interesting – where can I find more information?

You can review all policies relating to your working arrangements, leave benefits and entitlements, and remuneration via Employment Hero, our organisation’s intranet site, the Health Desk, and on Zendesk.

What about working from home?

KEO Care has multiple offices placed around Melbourne, and employees are encouraged to make use of these spaces in such a way that meets business needs and best supports individual working schedules and habits. All team members are welcome to work remotely when it is appropriate to do so, and this will look slightly different for each role. Whatever your working arrangements are, it is essential that they are communicated clearly with your manager or team leader so that you are supported as needed in order to be successful in your new role.

What professional development does KEO offer?

At KEO Care, we value lifelong learning, and aim to support the professional growth of all team members. We have a rich internal education program for clinical employees, and one of our benefits is that every employee has access to a professional development allowance currently valued at $1000 per financial year. This is further supported by access to two days of study leave per year. Additionally, as a young organisation, KEO Care is constantly evolving, and as such, there are plenty of opportunities to grow your career within the company.

I’m a therapist working in the community - how does KEO calculate kilometre reimbursement?

Travel is paid in line with the health professionals award and is paid at $0.99 per km for home visits in the duty of work.

  • In setting this rate the award considers fuel and associated costs of running a vehicle (i.e., servicing, maintenance, repairs, etc.).
  • KEO does not cap kilometre reimbursement. Therapists are paid for all kilometres, associated with home visits, driven within their workday.
  • Travel is calculated automatically through our CRM which calculates travel between appointments and the reimbursement is automatically received into your fortnightly pay.
I’m interested in taking out a novated car lease – does KEO support this?

KEO will support you to take out a novated lease on a vehicle if this is something you are interested in. Novated leases can be a good opportunity to take advantage of tax benefits by using pre-tax dollars to make payments for the lease.

Although there may be tax benefits from choosing a novated lease option, everyone’s personal circumstances are different, and this may not be the most suitable solution for you. If you decide to go ahead with a novated leasing option, you will no longer be eligible for kilometre reimbursement, however, KEO will contribute $5,200 annually ($200 per fortnight), which you will receive in your fortnightly pay. We do recommend seeking external advice from your accountant (or similar) before taking out this type of option to ensure this is the best option for you.
